ARNSBERG
is the historic gateway to the Sauerland, the “land of a thousand hills”. More than nine hundred years of history and the magnificent rolling landscape with its deciduous and coniferous forests have left their mark on the town and its setting.
The scenery in the surrounding area is characterized by hills and mountains, crystalline lakes, green woods, lush meadows and half-timbered houses. The town’s well-preserved medieval heart, known as Alt-Arnsberg, impresses visitors with its romantic, crooked alleys and impressive castle ruins, as does the Prussian quarter, unique in the whole of Westphalia. Visitors are sure to find countless other sights that tempt them to linger a while longer.
